The Science of Relationships

The Neuroscience of Relationships - Podcast

Join Megan Marcus and Kelley Munger on the FuelEd team to talk about relationship-driven education, the science behind emotional intelligence, and what it means for us as we engage students and donors as delivered on the Fundraising Voices podcast from February 25, 2021.

The Fundraising Voices Podcast features thought-provoking conversations with fundraisers, researchers, and thought leaders to help propel your fundraising results, from Ruffalo Noel Levitz.

Megan and Kelley talk with Brian about using neuroscience to help educators transform their relationship with their students and colleagues.

Listen below to catch some of the topics we dug into:

  • Why is it that the best educators put relationships at the center of their work?
  • What are the interpersonal skills from psychology that can be invaluable in the practice of education?
  • Why would educators need to think about their relationship with their mom? ("that's the past?!?")
  • What is empathic listening?
  • What is theory of mind and how do you tap into what might be going on inside of another person?
  • How can we do better as an educational community to respond to the relational needs that have been compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic?
  • What is an emotionally-intelligent educator and how educators develop those skills?
  • What's the one thing that professionals can do to personally get better at impactful relationship building?
